Following feedback from last season, as we gave CFU members the chance to vote for the CFU Women’s Player of the Season for the very first time, we have narrowed it down to a shortlist of four to take the award this year!
The shortlist was produced following votes from Women’s First Team Players and also Staff, with supporters able to vote for one of our four contenders…
CIARA LEE (MIDFIELDER)
Ciara has had an excellent season in the Blues midfield. Making the step up from the Development Squad in the summer, she has been a regular in the First Team this term and impressing. Ciara has scored eight goals this year, including a memorable stoppage time winner over Ellesmere Port back in August, and more recently a brilliant header against Runcorn Linnets which set the Blues on their way to a 4-1 victory.
SARAH REDMAN (MIDFIELDER)
With some exciting talent stepping up from the Development Squad in the midfield such as Ciara, Sarah Redman’s role has been hugely important. Sarah is one of the mainstays from previous seasons and is a consistent and disciplined player in the middle of the park. Sarah also scored an important goal to set the Blues up for a superb away win at Ellesmere Port in February.
EMMA GRAY (FORWARD)
Captain Emma Gray has led by example this season. Another familiar face from previous years like Sarah, Emma is Chester’s top scorer so far this term with 12 goals and has scored some hugely important goals, including dramatic last minute winners in games against MSB Woolton and Runcorn Linnets.
AMY OWEN (DEFENDER)
17-year-old Amy Owen has had a remarkable season in what is her very first senior campaign. The full-back jumped straight into the first team earlier this season and was named Player of the Match on her debut against Wigan. Her progression has seen Amy now become a regular in the defensive line, renowned for being a solid and reliable performer.
Voting closes on Tuesday 8th April at 6pm.
