City Fans United this week arrived at a major milestone, as the membership passed the 2500 mark, which includes 300 Junior Blues.
The news was released at the CFU Members Meeting on Thursday 2nd September by Membership Officer, Richard Wightman, who expressed his delight at the revelation, “
I am delighted to be able to report this as when we first started our aim was to get 500 members signed up, this is testament to the Supporters and the People of Chester in putting their trust back into the football club, I hope now that we can go from strength to strength both on and off the pitch and give this great City a football club to be proud of which it has been missing for many decades.”
Dave Cartwright, Chairman of the Junior Blues was also thrilled at seeing the Under 16’s arm of City Fans United pass the 300 Junior Blue members mark, “It’s a fantastic that we’ve now passed the 300 mark, and I would like to personally thank the Junior Blues committee for all their hard work in achieving this milestone, and in particular Syl Whelan.”
Also during the CFU meeting on Thursday night, Chief Executive Steve Ashton revealed that the club would have Stadium Sponsors next week, which is likely to be revealed at the home match against Trafford on Wednesday night, and also that Chester and District Housing Trust will have the West Stand named after them, after agreeing a sponsorship deal with the club, which includes the sponsorship of Gary Kent, groundsman at the club for over forty years.
City Fans United members also raised £182.00 on the night after a replica 1974 shirt was raffled, and won by Dave Dodd. The shirt was also signed by Michael Wilde at the meeting.
