CFU board summary – March 2017

This is a summary of the board meeting held on 9th March 2017

FLi contract – work continues to develop the new website Facilities for wheelchair supporters – a mock of a shelter is to be put up to help understand what the facility might look like for wheelchair supporters and how it might impact on others sitting in the East stand – this will be temporary and be put up in the week of 13th March.

Squadbuilder – two events are to be arranged for squadbuilder contributors and those interested in contributing in the future, this will be an opportunity to meet the manager and players. The events are being held in the Blues Bar on 4th April, 2017 with a choice of times of 3pm and 6pm. Invitations will be sent to those contributing already anyone interested in contributing in the future is also welcome to attend and should contact either anne.salmon@chesterfc.com or info@chesterfc.com

3G pitch – consideration relating to having a 3G pitch to replace the existing grass pitch is in the very early stages and a full business case will need to be developed before a decision is made.

Risk strategy and risk register – these both need to be reviewed.

Health and Safety – Stallard Kane had recently undertaken their annual audit and their report is awaited. Defibrillator training still has to be undertaken.

Finance – the income from the Tranmere game has increased the average pay at the gate income but policing and stewarding costs reduced the benefit of this. Significant work will need to be done on the pitch at the end of the season. Contract discussions are ongoing with players and there were still some injuries that would impact on availability between now and the end of the season.

Operations board – now reducing the frequency of meetings from weekly to fortnightly. Ticket prices for nest season were considered and Mark Maguire is also working on the marketing of season tickets with the aim that they go on sale earlier than in recent previous seasons.

Youth section – remain third in the league but have quite a backlog of fixtures. The under 17’s will be playing in the Cheshire cup final on 7th April at 7pm at Vauxhall Motors ground.

The informal CFU meeting planned for 16th March is to be cancelled.

Volunteer groups – none had met recently and Alan Povey will be meeting with the fundraising group shortly to look at possible future initiatives. There was a concern about lack of volunteers in some areas and agreed that there would need to be recruitment in some specific areas.

The next board meeting is 6th April – the joint meeting with the Community Trust planned for 18th March has been postponed and will probably take place on the 8th April
