The very first Junior Blues Quiz Shield was held at a packed Exacta Stadium Blues Bar last Friday night, and the event has been hailed as a complete success.
Dave Cartwright, Chairman of the Junior Blues was thrilled at the success of the evening, “It was a great night, and thanks to everyone’s efforts, over £1000 was raised for the Under 16s arm of City Fans United, which will help towards costs of the free Christmas parties for the members taking place this week.”
The Quiz was won by “Team Google”, who will now have their name engraved on the Shield and displayed inside the Blues Bar. Following the Quiz was an Auction, presented by Chester FC Director, Mark Howell, and £675 was raised from the items on offer. Three Christmas Turkey Crowns were also up for grabs in a festive raffle, won by Paul Walker (Chester), James Wynne (Oakenholt), and Anton Encarnacao (Saltney), whilst there were plenty of laughs involved with the Litre Bottle of Whisky Challenge.
Cartwright also paid tribute to the help and support received for the event, “The Junior Blues Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported the Quiz, including supporters who so generously donated prizes for the Auction and Raffle. Special thanks must go to Terry and Jude for entertaining us with their Disco, and thanks also to Larry for making the sandwiches.”
The Junior Blues Quiz Shield is scheduled to take place again in the summer of 2011, and details of the event will be found on www.cityfansunited.com
