Fundraising committee update and volunteer request

The fundraising committee met last night at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium and were pleased to welcome a number of new faces and elected a new chair.

Ed Jones, Gerry Cummins and John Allman all attended their first meeting and joined Mark Salmon, Geoff Leith, Ian Saxby and Tracey Smith for a very productive meeting. (more…)

Help wanted tomorrow

The stadium maintenance volunteers are asking for a few extra volunteers this Thursday afternoon to help clean the stadium.

The South Stand is going to be open this Saturday and the club are looking for volunteers to help clean the seats from about 1.30pm.

If you can spare a few hours then the help will be really appreciated. Please bring a bucket and sponge.

Seals Lottery July 2015 Draw

The Seals Lottery July draw has taken place with the ‘button’ being pressed by club Accounts Assistant Haidee McHugh, witnessed by club Directors Jim Keegan and John Martin, and Fundraising Committee member and Director Brian Burns.

Total lottery prizes are also matched by funds going to the development of Chester Football Club

Thought ! If every Seals Lottery member recruited just one more person to the Scheme then we would effectively double our contribution to club funds.

CFU meetings and AGM date

The next CFU members meetings and the AGM date have been announced.

The next formal CFU meeting is on Monday September 7 where David Evans will go through the results of the recent Big City Survey.

The next informal meeting is on Monday October 5 with a guest speaker still to be confirmed.

The CFU board have decided to try a different night from the usual Thursday to try and boost attendances at the meetings. At the meeting in September the new streaming service for Exiles will be trialled and it is hoped that this will be available to all CFU members by the next informal meeting in October.

he AGM will take place on Thursday November 26. Applications to stand for the board will open on October 5 and close on October 26. Details about what is required to apply will be released closer to the time, along with the number of vacancies on the board.

Stadium maintenance update

Over the course of the close season the club and CFU volunteers have been busy maintaining and improving the stadium.

A huge number of projects have been completed by the stadium maintenance team and a number of local companies have helped us make the stadium look better than ever after the CFU inherited the keys to the ground five years ago.

Head of Youth Academy and Football Secretary stands down

The City Fans United Board of Directors can today confirm that Football Secretary Calvin Hughes has resigned his position at the club with immediate effect.

Calvin has also stepped down from his other voluntary role as Head of the Youth Academy.

The Board of Directors would like to record its thanks to Calvin for his tremendous work over the last five seasons and would like to wish him all the best for his future.

The Chester FC Operations Board will pick up the Football Secretary role until a replacement is found whilst the Directors for Youth Development will work with the current Youth staff and coaches to continue the excellent work and progress in the Academy.

Volunteers required this week

The club are asking for volunteers to come down to the club and help out with a number of jobs around the stadium this week ahead of the new season.

The stadium maintenance team has been working flat out over the summer to give the stadium a much needed face lift but with the season fast approaching there are a few last minute jobs which need doing in time for the first match.
