Russ Hughes steps down from Board

City Fans United and Chester FC Director, Russ Hughes, has stepped down from his role on the board with immediate effect.

Russ, who was elected by the CFU members in January 2012, has advised the board that he is unable to continue in the role due to family and work commitments.

The board have regretfully accepted Russ’s resignation from the board and understand his reasons for stepping down.

Russ has played a pivotal role in driving the club forward in the last 12 months, and has undertaken projects from the very beginning of his tenure as a board member.

A popular and dedicated supporter of the Club, Russ has also advised that he will look to remain as a volunteer, “I’m sorry I’ve not been able to see out my full tenure but it has been a privilege to serve the club I’ve supported for 37 years. I always knew that when the role at the club encroached significantly on my family life and my paid job at Airbus, I would have to consider my position. After all Airbus basically pay my mortgage and my family come first. I’ll continue to support and volunteer for the club I love. I’d like to thank all those who had faith in me and wish the new board all the best.”

Chairman, Tony Durkin, acknowledged the role that Russ had played in the last year, “On behalf of the Board of Directors of Chester Football Club I would like to thank Russ for his time and efforts during his tenure on the board, Russ brought his project management skills to our board and his input will be missed at future meetings.”
