CFU Meeting (Informal) – Thursday 19th July

We would like to let our members know that the next CFU meeting will take place on Thursday 19th July, commencing at 7.30pm in the Blues Bar at the Swansway Chester Stadium.

Join CFU today and help us get to 2018 members in the year 2018!

This month’s meeting is an informal one but we are hoping to have Chester management duo Bern & Jono in attendance.

There will also be the chance to ‘Meet the Board’ for anyone considering standing for election at the forthcoming AGM, to gain an understanding of what the role entails.

Membership cards will also be available to collect on the night too, and you can also join CFU on the night too.

Further details will be released shortly for the online stream of the informal meeting.

We look forward to seeing you there!

CFU Membership passes 1600 mark!

The numbers of CFU members renewing or joining for the first time continues to increase and we can now report that we have over 1600 active members.

We would like to thank everyone that has signed up and remind the 300+ members who saw their membership expire on the 31st May, that we’d love to have them back as active members again!

We are of course looking to achieve a total of 2018 members in the year 2018, and are well on course to hit that figure – but we still need everyone to take part in the #one2onechallenge which tasks every CFU member to introduce at least one new member to CFU this year.

The process of renewing or joining is very simple, just click the link below and you can log into your profile and renew from there, or you can sign up for the first time if you’ve not done so before on our members section page below.

Membership Notification – Donation Agreement

Further to the statement dated 10th May 2018, the Board of City Fans United are delighted to announce that a Donation Agreement has been agreed between Chester City Supporters Society and Mr Stuart Murphy.

The Agreement was reached following due legal process and we would like to thank our legal team at Gateley Plc and Supporters Direct for their invaluable help in this matter. We would also wish to thank the legal team at Jolliffes and Simon Williams who represented Stuart in this process.

There will be absolutely no dilution of the principles of Fan Ownership nor control as a result of this agreement.

Stuart has committed to helping Chester Football Club for a period of three years, during which time he is to donate the sum of one million pounds, the majority of which will be allocated to infrastructure improvements that will enable the club to increase its overall sustainability.

Stuart has been invited to join the Operations Board for the duration of the agreement.

Speaking about this opportunity Stuart added:

“I am really delighted to be able to join forces with the Board and supporters at Chester FC. This gives me a great opportunity to give something back to the City of Chester and to the football club that I care for so much.

I have lots of ideas to move the club forward positively and I can’t wait to get started. There is much to do, but I am confident that together we can now start to write a new and far more positive chapter in the history of Chester FC”

Responding, David Harrington Wright, the Chair of Chester FC added:

“I am so pleased for everyone that we have been given this opportunity. I know that Stuart is brimming with ideas and we are so grateful to him for this generous donation and for his skill, expertise and time that he will commit to help our club” “ This is a one off chance for everyone at Chester Football Club”. If we all pull together, we can really make it work”

CFU membership passes 1300!

We are pleased to report that the number of City Fans United members is increasing by the day, and now stands at just over 1300 active members.

We have had around 300 renewing or joining us for the first time since we last went out with an update on June 6th, and it’s great to see the numbers jumping up significantly.

Whilst we are delighted at the active members total, we are also appealing to just under 500 people who saw their membership expire on May 31st 2018, and if all of those renew then we’ll be well on the way to achieving our initial target of 2000 members again.

The process of renewing is very simple, just click the link below and you can log into your profile and renew from there, or you can sign up for the first time if you’ve not done so before on our members section page below.

FREE Chester FC Season Ticket up for grabs!

Two of Chester FC’s Legends Lounge members and long time Blues fans have offered one lucky season ticket holder that buys or renews their season ticket before the Early Bird deadline expires, the chance to win the cost of their season ticket back!

The club are aiming to sell 1000 season tickets before the end of June, and supporters Alan Case and Ian Swettenham have decided to offer an incentive to help encourage more fans to get their season ticket with nearly 400 having been purchased already since sales began in May.

Alan, a well known and popular figure amongst supporters who has followed the Blues for 63 years said, “Ian and myself will be delighted to personally present the lucky winner with free football for the coming season”.

Ian, a fan since 1969, who sponsors the Swettenham Chemists Stand at the Swansway Chester Stadium and also provides fantastic financial support to the Chester FC Youth Academy was also keen to help cover the cost of one lucky fans season ticket. Ian said “There was a great suggestion on DevaChat to support the Early Bird offer and Alan & I are very happy to make it happen. I hope every fan can support the club with a Season Ticket purchase, it’s vital to the future of the club and appreciated by all involved.

Jeff Banks, Director of Fan Engagement said, “On behalf of the Fan Engagement Working Group (FEWG) and of course Chester FC, I’d like to thank both Alan and Ian for their fantastic gesture. It certainly demonstrates great unity amongst the fans when two come forward to offer to cover the cost of someone else’s season ticket, and anyone who has purchased one so far, or yet to get their ticket will no doubt be looking forward to hearing if their name has been pulled out of the hat!”

The Draw sponsored by Childrens Bed Centres & Swettenham Chemists will take place shortly after the Early Bird on sales ends, so fans are urged to get their season tickets before this deadline to be in with a chance of winning.

City Fans United Members (Formal) Meeting – Tuesday 5th June

The next City Fans United members meeting is set to take place on Tuesday 5th June, in the Blues Bar at the Swansway Chester Stadium.

The meeting was originally scheduled for Thursday 24th May, however, we have rescheduled the date to allow the board to bring members updated information around the donation by Stuart Murphy, and also non-executive director Richard Lynes will also be presenting his findings on the review he has been carrying out on CFU matters relating to the last 12 months.

We are also hoping to be joined by the new management team at Chester FC on the evening too, so plenty of reasons to come along!

The meeting will start at 7.30pm with the bar open from 7pm on the evening and as it’s a members meeting only, we will be taking new membership sign ups on the night and you can also renew your membership on the night too.

2013 AGM – Statement from the Chairman

City Fans United’s Annual General Meeting took place last night in the Blues Bar at Chester FC, and Chairman, Tony Durkin spoke about the challenges and success that Chester FC had experienced in the last 12 months.

In his opening statement, Durkin said, “My first year in office as Chairman has been a considerably challenging but equally rewarding one. Despite the challenging financial situation we have much to be positive about having returned to Conference football in our third season as a reformed club. Neil Young and his team achieved a notable third successive championship, winning in style with a record 107 points and over 103 goals giving us a healthy margin over second placed Guiseley with a mere 91 points.
