CFU supports new Supporters Direct report

City Fans United are supporting a Supporters Direct report which is calling for community owned clubs to receive tax breaks.

The football club has been working with Supporters Direct for over six months to help them launch their report into community owned sports clubs at Parliament yesterday.

The report argues that democratically owned sports clubs could bring a big net benefit if they were given tax breaks. The proposal recommends creating a new tax status for democratically owned clubs that meet strict criteria, including reinvesting surpluses and protecting assets for community use. (more…)

It’s hard work, but very rewarding, plus we have fun too! Of paramount importance is willingness and enthusiasm. If you feel you could make a difference and add value to our great team please contact Richard Lynes on the email address below: rich.lynes@gmail.com

Streaming service launch

Chester FC will become the first club in the country to live stream all of its members meetings on the internet after two successful trials.

City Fans United members will now be able to watch the monthly members meetings from wherever they are in the world. The board hope that this will lead to members who live away from the city feeling more involved in the workings of the club despite their geographical distance.

The first meeting to be streamed will be the formal members meeting on Monday November 2nd, starting at 7.30pm. The AGM on November 26th will also be live streamed.

Board candidate applications reminder

The board of City Fans United would like to remind members that the deadline for applying to stand for election to the board is this Friday, October 23rd.

It has also come to the board’s attention, yesterday, that some members haven’t received the email inviting applications to the board which was sent out on October 5th. We have checked our IT systems for everyone who has contacted the club about this issue and found that the emails have been sent out to everyone who has been in touch so please check your spam folders. This seems to be a particular problem for hotmail accounts.

Just in case the spam filter on your particular email has rejected the email outright we have reproduced the letter sent to members below, with the relevant forms.
