Happy New Year to all CFU members.
Following the City Fans United SGM in December, and subsequent CFU committee meeting prior to Christmas, we can confirm that the following roles have been allocated to the committee members:
CFU are surprised, disappointed and shocked at events currently taking place at The Deva Stadium.
Whilst the players, we believe, have still to be paid from November and the current
manager is working miracles in what can be some of the most difficult circumstances ever experienced by a Chester manager, Stephen Vaughan, currently banned from acting as a director by The Department of Trade, has appeared to appoint Morell Maison as Director of Football.
The stories that were broken by the local press earlier this week that Stephen Vaughan has been in advanced negotiations to sell Chester City FC to a business consortium will come as a source of relief for all City fans this festive period.
It is with interest that City Fans United see that Mr Vaughan has now set a sale price for the Club, and is allowing outside parties access to the books to perform due diligence upon the accounts of the current company. This costly statement of intent on behalf of this new consortium gives us hope that the Club may now be sold to a committed and genuine third party, something the Managing Director of CCFC worryingly admitted this week “…must happen soon”.
The weekend press reports of players striking at Chester City are causing new and even greater concerns to the members of City Fans United.
The financial and ownership problems are well documented, but this weekend has revealed a new and even more intolerable situation as it appears that the club is now finding itself in difficulties fulfilling its fixtures on a week to week basis.
This Thursday, the City Fans United Special General Meeting will take place at the Home Guard Social Club in Canal Steet, Chester, commencing at 8pm, and all CFU members are invited to attend..
One of the items on the agenda will be the election of members to the Society Board.
As only nine members have been nominated it is not necessary to hold an election but their nominations do have to be ratified at the SGM by the membership.
For those members attending the meeting on Thursday, please remember to bring your Membership Card with you.
Personal statements from each nominee can be found on www.cityfansunited.com
City Fans United, the supporters group for Chester City FC, note the decision of the Football Conference and the Football League to withdraw the threat of expulsion from membership hanging over the club, subject to the clearance of the payment of £36,600.
City Fans United, the fans group for supporters of Chester City FC, have pledged to rebuild should the club be forced out of existence due to ongoing financial problems. They have the support of Christine Russell MP who has raised the plight of Chester City FC directly with the Sports Minister, Gerry Sutcliffe.
With the club facing possible expulsion from the Conference on 30th November and with further signs that the financial situation at the club is dire, the fans have set wheels in motion to rebuild a new Chester Football Club should the current set-up become extinct.
With further information emerging that the players have not been paid for a second month and that the Harry Mcnally Terrace has been closed due to stewards being required for other games based in the North West on Saturday, fans are wondering how long the club can continue to lurch from crisis to calamity.
City Fans United have received nine nominations for the Board. As the number does not exceed the number of places available (nine) there will be no need for an election.
In accordance with our rules as a registered Industrial Provident Society, we do need to hold a ratification meeting. The Special General Meeting to ratify the nominees below will be held at 8pm on 10th December in the Home Guard club. Full agenda to follow.
For one night only in December, City Fans United are proud to present “Legends Night” – a night that will see many ex-Chester City players, in what could be quite simply, the biggest re-union of Chester players in recent memory.
The event takes place at the Divas Show Bar on Thursday 3rd December, at 8pm, and a strong line up is promised for the night, which is being compered by local comedian & Chester fan, Bobby Brown, so there should be plenty of laughs that’s for sure!
Online applications for both CFU membership, and also Junior Blues membership (0-15 years) are now being accepted via the City Fans United page on www.chestercitytv.co.uk.
Membership for either organisation costs just £5.00, and can be paid via Paypal.
