The indignity of failing to fulfil last night’s fixture at Forest Green followed by the announcement that we are unable to host our local rivals Wrexham on Sunday means that Chester City Football Club has effectively ceased to be. We have been tested to the limit as supporters and our support base has been driven down to a rump through incompetence and worse.

The Boycott takes effect at the Deva Stadium
It was no surprise to see the lowest ever contingent of Chester City fans present for the Blue Square Premier League game against Ebbsfleet United on Saturday. Less than 400 Chester fans were present at the Deva Stadium to witness the club’s fifth successive defeat, and following on from the lowest ever turnout for a professional Chester City match in January, we now witness the lowest ever number of City fans at a home match, the boycott fans called for is clearly taking effect.
CFU write to Blue Square Premier clubs
This week City Fans United have written to all clubs in the Blue Square Premier apologising for the manner in which our club has conducted itself this season. A copy of this letter will also be circulated around all Supporters Trusts.
We believe that the time is right to stress to opposition clubs and the Blue Square Premier officials that we have no faith in the current ownership.
CFU invite you to a Night At The Races
City Fans United is hosting a Night At The Races on Saturday 20th February at the Home Guard Social Club in Canal Street, Chester and we would like to invite our members to join us for what promises to be a fantastic evening of entertainment.
CFU response to High Court decision
No-one wanted to see Chester City Football Club die today. But the stay of execution given to the Club in the High Court is little comfort to Chester supporters. The way our club has been run is indefensible and has led to a catastrophic loss of confidence by supporters, businesses, the football authorities and the wider community. The only way forward is a swift and decisive change of ownership.
Offer received to purchase club
City Fans United can confirm that earlier this afternoon we received a text message from Stephen Vaughan senior’s mobile phone as follows:
£1 for 100% shareholding.
u pay all outstanding creditors.
Stephen vaughan junior
We feel that two days would not be sufficient for us to carry out the due diligence that any fit and proper future owner would wish to undertake, so we trust in Mr Vaughan that he has made provision for the Club’s survival of Wednesday’s winding up order.
As our members would expect, we have now acknowledged receipt of this message, and will give due consideration to his offer at our members meeting on Thursday.
Official Boycott decision reached by CFU Members
Last week, the CFU committee sent out a Survey to its members involving questions regarding the future of Chester City Football Club.
January Members Meeting & Join Online!
City Fans United would like to invite all members to their first Members Meeting of 2010, which will take place at the Home Guard Club, in Canal Street, Chester, on Thursday 28th January, with the meeting commencing at 8pm.
The meeting has been convened to discuss the recent events at Chester City FC, and also as a follow up to the CFU Survey sent out recently to all members.
There will also be a presentation on the Loan Notes, as well as a couple of new initiatives being launched by CFU at the meeting.
Extra Time beckons for CFU Survey
Thanks to everyone who has so far responded to the CFU Survey that was distributed to all of our members this week.
On Wednesday, we e-mailed the Survey to our online members, and have so far had a tremendous response, so thanks to everyone who has responded so quickly.
For anyone not online, Surveys were posted out on Thursday night, and should be with our members this weekend.
In view of this, and also the backlog of post being sorted by Royal Mail nationally, we have decided to extend the deadline for receiving Surveys to Midday on Thursday 21st January, which will give all who were posted the CFU Survey a chance to respond in time, so please complete and return yours by last post Wednesday in order for your vote on the question of an official boycott to count.
CFU respond to departure of Jim Harvey
City Fans United would like to state their disappointment, shock, and anger at the decision to replace Jim Harvey as Manager of Chester City Football Club.
Supporters had recently received assurances from new Director of Football, Morell Maison, that Mr Harvey would continue in his role as team manager, this was strengthened in the meeting held between representatives from CFU and Morell Maison, and also Gary Metcalf, whom we were unaware was attending the said meeting.
